In the early autumn of 1976 BMW’s ‘/6’ series is replaced by the ‘/7′. The R90S-style fuel tank (adopted across the range) and redesigned rocker covers are distinguishing features while at the top of the range, 980cc R100 models replace the ’90’ series. The R75 probably offers the best compromise between power and economy, turning out 50 hp @ 6,200 rpm and having a petrol consumption of around 1:20. Top speed is 180 km/h and the dry weight is 195 kg. The big BMWs have always been excellent touring motorcycles and the R75/7 comes fully equipped for the job, boasting a stainless disc front brake that stops you in the wet, superbly comfortable riding position, well-damped long-travel suspension and over 250 miles on one tank of fuel. The model is on the market between 1976 and 1979 and 6264 machines are produced during that period. Our R75/7 is an early model in original condition, first registered in The Netherlands on September 22, 1976. She comes with Cockpit fairing with voltmeter and quartz clock, offered by the factory as an accessory and is fitted with a BMW pannier set and crash bars. The previous owner bought the motorcycle new. He sold it once but eventually bought it back and owned it until his passing. The odometer displays a total of only 45,112 km.
