At the end of 1923 FN brings out a 350 cc single cylinder ohv with unit construction engine and horizontally split crankcase. This model, the M60, is the start of a successful new line of models in a period in which the heavy and expensive four cylinder is quickly loosing ground. Two years later a bigger 500cc brother is brought out, the M 67 with bore and stroke dimensions of 85×87 mm.
In October 1927 the M 67 B sees the light of day, with a new type of frame and a bigger petrol tank. In 1929 the M 67 “C” appears with enclosed pushrods and rocker gear and a more compact-shaped petrol tank. Finally, 1930 brings the “D”: the design department has come up with a less angular petrol tank. There’s a choice between a standard model and a comfort model, the latter with bigger tyres, different handlebars and aluminium foot boards.
The M67 is very successful in sporting events, it sets many speed records in the late twenties. The status of this top model is lost in 1934 when its successor, the venerable M 86, is introduced. 1935 is the last year the M67 is catalogued. Weighing 140 kilos, this is a relatively light and agile machine with a top speed of about 110 km/h.
The machine we offer here spent most of het life in Sweden. She came to The Netherlands in 2012 and has been used regularly in vintage club runs by the former owner. Some years ago the gearbox has been overhauled and new piston rings have been fitted. Equipment includes 100 km/h O.S. speedometer, Denfeld pillion seat, aluminium spare spark plug holder, handlebar-mounted valve guide oiler, tyre pump and rear view mirror. This sportsmen’s and tourer’s delight is a fine runner and is equipped with Bosch electrics which were standard for FN.
