The Porsche 911 E belongs to the generation that established the 911 as one of the most desirable sports cars of its era. With its unmistakable silhouette, rear mounted flat six and wonderfully mechanical driving character, the early 911 offered a combination of performance and usability that was unusual for its time. The Targa added another dimension, allowing the 911 to transform from a closed sports car into an open air driving experience while retaining its unmistakable character.The 911 E was the performance focused model within the early 911 range, positioned between the T and the more powerful S. Its responsive flat six, mechanical fuel injection and relatively low weight created a particularly engaging driving experience.
Today, these early 911s are appreciated for exactly that analogue character. There is very little between the driver and the mechanics of the car, which is rather the point.
This 1973 European specification 911 E Targa was originally delivered in Germany. The car has been carefully restored and upgraded with a clear focus on driving enjoyment while retaining the character of the original 911. The car is finished in silver grey and presents in very good condition. The bodywork is rust free and the paintwork is in excellent condition. The original Fuchs wheels are retained, while the chrome and exterior details are also in good condition. The original Targa roof has been newly retrimmed and the roof seals have been replaced. Inside, the car features a black interior with newly fitted seats designed to closely resemble the original specification. The dashboard, carpets and door panels are neatly presented. The original radio has been replaced by a Porsche unit with a period correct appearance and modern functionality including Apple CarPlay.
