After acquiring license to the Magnat-Debon name in 1928, Terrot becomes the leading French manufacturer of two wheeled vehicles. Through the thirties an extensive range of models is marketed, from a humble 98 cc single speed “Velomoteur” to a sturdy 750 cc side valve V-twin. The company uses elaborate model codes but the basis is that the first letter designates the cubic capacity. That sounds simple, but in practice different letter codes have been used for the same capacity models through the years. For example, 246 cc Terrots have been coded by the letters M, P, and O. The 246 cc side valve is one of the popular models in the range: it is moderate in weight, economical to ride and it can reach a practical top speed of about 85 km/h.
The 1929 range presents two 246 cc side valve models, the tourism “OT“ and Sports “OS”. These differ in minor respects: the OT has footboards, fixed handlebars, and a cast iron piston. The OS is fitted with adjustable handlebars and footrest and has an aluminium alloy piston.
Bore x stroke of the sturdy and reliable Terrot long stroke engine are 59 x 90 mm, there are three speeds on board and the lubrication is taken care of by automatic feed pump. The petrol tank holds 11 litres, the separate oil tank can contain 2.7 litres. Both wheels have 170 mm diameter internal expanding brakes. Steering damper and front fork friction damper are standard fittings with this model.

The machine on offer has been meticulously restored, with great care to detail (however the signwritten “OLG” on the front number plate is not correct, since it refers to the 1931 and later version of the 246 machine). She comes with full electric lighting with Magneto France dynamo, stylish aluminium exhaust damper, Amac carb, Bosch magneto, tyre pump on front fork and 3.25 x 19 tyres. This OS has a current Dutch registration and is ready for the road.
