Deze origineel Nederlandse auto van 1989 verkeert in een uitzonderlijk goede staat. De carrosserie moet goed zijn geconserveerd en vertroeteld, want op de beruchte plekken waar ‘ie normaal hard roest, is deze Saab klokgaaf. De asdoorgangen - een berucht punt - zijn verrassend mooi en dat geldt sowieso voor het gehele chassis en carrosserie van deze sympathieke 900C.

Die ‘C’ staat natuurlijk voor carburateur, want dit exemplaar is gewoon nog nieuw geleverd met de onverwoestbare tweeliter achtkleps motor zonder brandstofinjectiesysteem, maar met de chokehendel nog tussen de voorstoelen. Trek ‘m even uit bij koude motor en de viercilinder slaat snorrend aan. De motor loopt erg mooi op zowel benzine als LPG en heeft na 34 jaar een kilometerstand van nog geen 240.000. Recentelijk is de cilinderkop met koppakking vervangen alsmede de LPG-verdamper.

Ook de velours bekleding is in een mooie staat met een snaarstrak hemeltje en mooi dashboard. De auto is voorzien van originele lichtmetalen Saab-velgen en de banden hebben een uitstekend profiel. Er zijn weliswaar een radio-/cd-spoeler en trekhaak gemonteerd, maar dit is een Saab zonder opsmuk. Eentje die fantastisch rijdt en die door werkelijk iedereen leuk wordt gevonden.


This 1989 Saab, sold new in The Netherlands, is in exceptionally good condition. The bodywork must have been well maintained and looked after, as this Saab is in an excellent condition in the notorious areas where it usually rusts. The axle passages, a notorious weak point, are very good, and the same applies to the entire chassis and bodywork of this charming 900C.

That ‘C’ naturally stands for carburettor, as this example was originally delivered with the indestructible two-litre eight-valve engine without a fuel injection system, but with the choke lever still between the front seats. Pull it out when the engine is cold and the four-cylinder starts up with a purr. The engine runs very smoothly on both petrol and LPG and, after 34 years, has a mileage of less than 240,000 km. The cylinder head and head gasket have recently been replaced, as has the LPG evaporator.

The velour upholstery is also in fine condition, with spotless headlining and a lovely dashboard. The car is fitted with original Saab light alloy wheels and the tyres have good tread. Although a radio/CD player and tow bar have been fitted, this is a no-frills car. One that drives fantastically and is loved by absolutely everyone.
