The 8 Series simply existed. Long, low and wide, with a body that looked more like a concept car than something you could actually order from a showroom. The pop-up headlights disappeared neatly into the nose, the roofline sat low over the cabin and those distinctive C-pillars gave the car a presence that still looks right today.

This is a 1994 BMW 840Ci. Finished in Hell Rot — and it suits the car exceptionally well.

The red paint highlights every line of the design. From the long bonnet to the muscular rear haunches and that distinctive, almost timeless coupé silhouette. No unnecessary excess. Just a design that works.

Under the bonnet sits BMW's V8, paired with an automatic transmission. Exactly as a Gran Turismo of this size should be: powerful, comfortable and built to cover serious distances. The kind of car in which taking the long way home on a Sunday afternoon feels entirely appropriate.

And this particular example has an interesting history.

Originally delivered in Spain, the car remained there from 1994 until 2020, during which time it was owned by just two owners. It was subsequently acquired by a Dutch collector, who was particularly drawn to the car's condition and its original cloth interior, which has survived exceptionally well for its age.
