Biography
Peter Proost was born in Zaandam (1956) and lives and works in The Netherlands.
He studied from 1976 to 1981 at the Free University of Amsterdam.
The subjects he paints are everyday and contemporary: Chinese bowls, a fried egg, a beautiful antique silver spoon, a few sardines on a piece of gray paper.
'The kitchen drawer or cupboard is often a source of inspiration for my paintings. The beauty of simplicity, but worked out down to the finest detail. To me that's the success of fine painting'.
Peter Proost is the initiator of The Art Academy and provides workshops in Realistic Fine Painting with oil at various cultural institutions in the Netherlands.
His work is appreciated by a large audience and is sold to art lovers at home and abroad.
