Dit is een Jeep Comanche, een echte beach-car. Ideaal op een eiland of bij je thuis, om met je surfspullen op pad te gaan of gewoon even snel boodschappen te doen. Simpel rijden, open achterraam en genieten maar.

Ik kocht deze Jeep 16 jaar geleden in de States. De eerste eigenaar reed er zo’n 3.000 binnenlandse mijlen mee naar de haven om hem op transport naar Rotterdam te zetten. Niet lang daarna stond hij bij mij in de shop.

Toen kwam de jonge Mads uit Denemarken langs. Hij had in de buurt van Kopenhagen een waterskiebaan en zocht een leuke pick-up truck voor erbij. Hij kocht de Comanche en heeft hem al die jaren gebruikt zoals zo’n auto bedoeld is: rijden, spullen meenemen en vooral veel buiten zijn.

Inmiddels is Mads getrouwd en verhuisd naar Amerika. Voordat hij vertrok, kwam hij nog langs om de Pick-up terug te brengen. Het mooie was dat ik de originele foto van de aflevering van 14 jaar geleden nog had. Daarom hebben we bij het inleveren opnieuw dezelfde foto gemaakt, in precies dezelfde houding.

Leuk om deze twee momenten naast elkaar te zien, times flies when you having fun.

I bought this Jeep 16 years ago in the States. The original owner drove it around 3,000 miles to the port of New York to have it shipped to Rotterdam. Not long after that, it arrived at my shop.

Then a young guy named Mads from Denmark stopped by. He owned a waterski park near Copenhagen and was looking for a fun pickup truck to use around the place. He bought the Comanche and used it over all those years exactly the way a truck like this is meant to be used: driving it, hauling stuff, and spending a lot of time outdoors.

Mads is now married and has moved to America. Before leaving, he stopped by to return the pickup. The nice thing was that I still had the original delivery photo from 14 years ago, so when he brought it back, we recreated the same picture in exactly the same pose.

So nice to compare these images, Times flies when you are having fun.
