Miele 1954 “K100” 98 cc Sachs two stroke frame # 1193075 engine # 1397058 When the company was founded in 1899, neither Carl Miele nor Reinhard Zinkann thought of producing two-wheeled means of transportation:diary centrifuges, butter machines and washing machines were developed and built in a former grain mill in the village of Herzebrock. In 1907 the company moved to neighboring Gütersloh. A larger property with its own rail connection secured the necessary infrastructure there. Around 1920 Miele began to explore the domain of motorized transportation. A modest number of cars were produced but soon the company turned to bicycle manufac ...

Triumph ca. 1972 T 120 R “Bonneville” 649 cc ohv twin frame and engine # NG 37753 The Bonneville owes its creation to the 1937 Triumph Speed Twin, designed by Edward Turner. This breakthrough design served as a blueprint for future classic British motorbikes. Public demand for more power increased every year and in 1949, Turner upgraded the bike to become the 1950 6T Thunderbird. During the 1950s, Triumph racked up a number of victories on the Bonneville Salt Flats in the US. For example, in 1955, Johnny Allen rode his Triumph streamliner to 193.30 mph, setting the record for the world’s fastest motorbike. The next year, he outdid his r ...

Imme ca. 1950 “R100 “ 99 cc two stroke single frame & engine # 10541 During World War 2 Norbert Riedel had designed a two stroke starter engine for the first Luftwaffe jet fighters. After the war he moved into motorcycle design, His first design was the Riedel R100. The American army desperately wanted his jet starter engines, so they gave him the production tools and equipment which could be used for motorcycle production. The first test drives were made around X-mas 1947. In1948 Riedel found a production factory in IMMESTADT (Bavaria). IMME is a German word for Bee, hence the logo and name for Riedel’s brainchild. Triumph ca. 1924 “LW” 249 cc two stroke frame # 603812 Triumph’s 500cc machines were high and somewhat difficult for a lightly built person to mount and handle, even with a clutch in the hub of the rear wheel. So Triumph decided to manufacture something more suitable – the Model LW – Light Weight. This idea might well have originated from Siegfied Bettmann’s partner, Mauritz Schulte, or even Schulte’s daughters, for the three daughters enjoyed riding behind Work’s Testers and when the Model LW was produced Schulte took one home for his eldest daughter and claimed to have made the first order. (Not ‘made the first sale’, because doubtless ...

Triumph 1929 “C.N.3” 498cc side valve frame # 807150 engine # 704715 Triumph rode out the mid-‘20s depression only by the introduction of its very successful Model P, and followed this up with variations on the theme with the Models N, NP and N de Luxe. However, by the late 1920s Triumph were being overtaken by the competition, and it was definitely time for something different. Announced in the motorcycling press at the beginning of October1928, the C.O. (348cc OHV) , C.N. (498cc SV) & C.S.D. (550cc SV) were an entirely new range of “c-series” machines. There were a number of features that were new for Triumph and the models w ...

This compact unit could be bolted into the frame of any ordinary pushbike: The “Motosacoche” -which approximately means “engine-bag”- was born! Very soon the quality and practical utility of the invention became known even far beyond the Swiss territory. Gradually the engines became bigger and more powerful, twin cylinders were produced and the initial idea of a motorized pedal-bike was given up. The factory built complete motorbikes under ...

Nimbus 1935 746cc 4 cyl ohc 2905 € 10.950

Nimbus 1935 746 cc OHC four-in-line engine & frame # 1576 When the Nimbus first appeared in 1919, competitors mocked its strange look (a round-tank in a sea of flat-tank motorcycles). However, it was a good reliable performer and was quite popular. Pedar A Fisker promoted the model by riding one himself in various trials and races with notable successes. The design went through an improved ‘B’ version, before production stopped around 1928, by then 1252 motorcycles had been manufactured. Although a very good motorcycle, it was just too expensive to sell in enough quantity for the recessionary market conditions at the time. By the early th ...
